Serving in Central and Eastern Missouri
The Central and Eastern Awana
Ministry area covers 2/3 of the state of Missouri. There are over two
million people in the area that Mark and Marjorie Schoonover minister
in, many of which are children and teenagers who do not know Jesus
Christ as their Savior. What a tremendous opportunity God has given
churches and their Awana Clubs!
Mark and Marjorie Schoonover are privileged to serve as the Awana
Missionaries. As missionaries, they are committed to carrying out the
Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) by reaching boys and girls with the
gospel of Christ and training them to serve Him. Their role is to
support the ministry of the churches in their area. They are faith
missionaries, supported financially only by the gifts of the churches
and leaders they serve. The bulk of their ministry time is spent as
follows:
Starting
New Clubs
-presenting Awana to churches and assisting churches in the registering
process.

Leadership
-providing Awana Orientation Training to
new clubs and new leaders of existing clubs, as well as advanced
training through Fall Children’s Ministry Conferences.

Developing
a Ministry Team
-providing area leadership an opportunity to serve with them in
conducting trainings and events, and in encouraging other leaders. >>

Strengthening
local churches
-being available to answer any club-related question, to speak at
clubs, to evaluate clubs, and consult with pastors and club leadership.

Events -with the help of the area Ministry Team
-conducting area events (Fall Children’s
Ministry Conference, Bible
Quizzing, Sparks-a-Rama,
AwanaGames
and Super Saturday)
to enrich the local ministry. Many of these events give unsaved family
